Physical Characteristics of the Border Collie
Border Collie (Definite Introduction)

The Border Collie is the dog breed with the highest IQ among dogs. It was first grown on the Scottish border. It is also known as the German Shepherd. Many years ago, this dog was regarded as a shepherd dog. It was not until 1915 that it was officially named "Border Collie" "To name it. Belonging to the "type of workaholic", he is rich in spirit, and more than half of the shepherding work in the world is completed by him.
Morphological Characteristics
Body Size

The height at the withers of males ranges from 19 to 22 inches; the height of females ranges from 18 to 21 inches. Length (distance from end of shoulder blade to hip) is slightly greater than height at withers. The bones are thick, but not exaggerated, and are of full size. Complete uniformity of height, length, body weight, and bone mass is critical, much more critical than simple characteristics. Excessive body weight should not be mistaken for muscle or bone mass. Complete smoothness of any simple feature would be considered a drawback.
Head
Expression: intelligent, warning, concerned and full of curiosity. Eyes: relatively wide apart, of average size, oval. The eye rim pigment and eye color are brown; if the main body color is not black, the eye color will be significantly lighter. Lack of pigment in the eye rims is a drawback. Blue eyes are a fault in dogs with any color other than merle. Merle dogs with one or two blue eyes are allowed; one eye is partially blue or both eyes are partially blue. Ears: Normal size, fairly open, erect or half erect (maintain 1/4 to 3/4 erect). The tips of the ears point forward or sideways. The ears are agile and dexterous. Skull: Broad, not exceeding the occipital bone. The length of the skull is consistent with the length of the front face. The stop is moderate but clear. Breath: Slightly short, thick, and blunt, slightly thinner at the tip of the nose. The lower jaw is thick and well developed. The color of the nose is consistent with the main color of the body, and the nostrils are well developed. A truncated tone is a fault. Bite: Thick teeth and jaws, scissors bite.
Neck and back
Neck: of good length, thick and muscular, slightly arched, gradually widening toward the shoulders. Topline: Flat, slightly arched behind the waist. Body: Appearance of prosperity. The chest is deep and of moderate width, showing great chest volume. Chest deep to elbows. Ribs well sprung. The waist is moderately deep and muscularThe flesh is prosperous, slightly arched, and has no upper lift. The hips gradually tilt backward. Tail: Set low, of medium length, with the tailbone extending to the hock. There is an aggressive whirlpool at the end. When concentrating on completing a task, the tail is low and drooped to maintain stability. When excited, the tail is raised approximately to the level of the back. A stranded tail is a drawback.
Forequarters
When viewed from the front, the bones of the forelimbs are well developed and parallel to each other. Viewed from the side, the ankle is slightly skewed. The angle between shoulder blades and upper arms is appropriate. The elbows turn neither in nor out. Dewclaws may be removed. The feet are close and oval in shape, the pads are deep and thick, and the toes are overly arched and close together.
Hindquarters
Broad and muscular, with a gentle slope to the tail. The thighs are long, broad, deep and muscular. The stifles are well angled, the hocks are thick and the set is low. Viewed from the front, the hind limbs are well-boned, straight, parallel to each other and have a very slight bovine limb. Dewclaws may be removed. The feet are close and oval in shape, the pads are deep and thick, and the toes are overly arched and close together. Toenails are short and thick.
Coat
There are two types allowed: coarse hair and short hair. Both types have a soft, deep, double coat that protects them from harsh weather conditions. Puppy hair is short, soft, deep and waterproof. Transfers to undercoat in adulthood. Coarse hair type: The hair is of medium length, flat quality, slightly wavy, and the facial hair is short and smooth. The forelimbs are feathered. The hair on the back ankles may be cut short. As we age, the hair will gradually protrude into a very sharp wave shape, which is not a fault. Short-haired type: The hair on the whole body is very short, the forelimbs may be feathered, and the chest hair is full. [5]
Color
Border Collies come in many colors, with a variety of different patterns and patterns. The most common color is black with (or not wearing) white ribs, white scarf, white socks, white tail tip, and wearing (or not wearing) brown patterns. A variety of different body colors are allowed, but all white is different. Single color, two color, three color and traditional colors should be treated equally in the competition. Color and pattern are secondary goals in competition, while body structure and gait are the important goals.
Gait
The Border Collie is a swift dog that can change speed and direction suddenly without losing stability and grace. Endurance is the trademark of this breed. His trot is extended, smooth, and effortless. The distance between the paws and the ground is the shortest, and when it glides briskly, the topline does not change at all (the topline is stable). Observed from the side, its stride is very large, the frequency of steps is very short, and its movements are fast and precise. Shoulders, elbows and ankles are not all loose. Looking at it from the negative side, the start of the hands and feet is strong and flexible. The hocks are close together but not intertwined. Departure from the precise gait described above is a disadvantage. In the final evaluation, gait was the most important characteristic and was used to infer the body's structural ability. Is it reasonable and accurate?
Temperament
The Border Collie is an intelligent, alert and sensitive breed. It is very friendly to its companions but obviously reserved for strangers, so it is a very unique breed. Watchdog. He is also an excellent sheepdog, he is willing to learn and is satisfied with it. and thrive in human friendship. Obvious cruelty or extreme shyness are serious flaws.
Disadvantages
Since the Border Collie entered China, the standards for judgment began to change. Soon there was the saying that the seven whites are in place, the neck is through, and the legs are through. The misleading trend persists to this day and is getting more and more intense. Some people even put forward the idea that the pattern is defective, thinking that the pattern is defective. If there is a design flaw, there is only one: white cannot be the main color of the Border Collie.
Disqualification Conditions
All deviations from this standard will be regarded as faults, and their severity depends on the degree of deviation from this standard. If the deviation is too large, it should be considered Disqualified
