Physical Characteristics
The length of the Belgian Groanda Shepherd Dog (certain introduction) body length from the sternum to the buttocks is approximately the same as the height at the withers. It makes people feel deep and stable. The head is relatively long, often held high and proud, and always alert. The top of the head is slightly flat, not rounded, and the width and length are about the same. Eyes are brown or dark brown, medium in size, slightly almond-shaped, no larger than 1. Eyes show intelligence, questioning, alertness, and care. The ears are triangular in shape, upright, and in proportion to the size of the head. The muzzle is slightly pointed, and the length is approximately the same as the skull. The jaws are rich and powerful. Nose black, no stains or fading. The lips are tight and black, with no pink color visible from the outside. The teeth are perfect, white and strong.
The neck is arched and stretched outwards, gradually tapering from the point where it joins the body, with developed muscles and tight skin. Topline straight and strong. Chest not broad, but fairly deep, reaching to the elbows. The lower abdominal line is smooth and beautiful. The abdomen is overly developed. Since it is lifted up, it is not a big belly. When viewed from above, the waist appears short, wide and rich, smoothly integrating with the back. Hips are of average length, gradually sloping. Rich at the base of the tail. When resting, the tail droops; when flowing, the tail curls up slightly, with a rich and powerful finish. The ratio of hind leg length and mass to full size is very consistent, with the bones being oval rather than round. The two hind legs are parallel to each other. The thighs are wide and well muscled. The claws of the hind limbs are slightly longer, the toes are arched and very close, and the pads are abundant. Toenails are thick and black.
The outer coat is long, straight and abundant. The quality is light and rough, the undercoat is very rich, and it can adapt to various weather conditions. The Belgian Groanda Shepherd has special adaptations to extreme weather and temperatures. The hair on the head, outside of the ears, and the lower half of the legs is slightly shorter, and the open ears are protected by tufts of hair. Some areas have longer and richer feathering, such as: the scarf around the neck; the feathering on the back of the forearms; the long feathering on the thighs and "trousers"; and the long, thick and abundant hair on the tail. The fur color is black, pure black or black with white patterns. White patterns are limited to the following conditions:Condition: A few to a dull number of white fragments and stripes on the chest. There is white between the pads of the feet and the toes, white on the toes of the hind paws, and white on the muzzle and chin (probably white or gray)
