Eastern Box Turtle
The Eastern box turtle is what we often call the Carolei box turtle , widely distributed in southern Canada and the central United States to south-central Texas. Although the difficulty of raising is not high, the price is relatively high, so people often like to regard it as a beginner turtle species, but it is not called luxurious.
The box turtle is a semi-aquatic turtle. Usually found only in North America, the box turtles and turtles of the genera Occasionally are also called box turtles, however they are distinct from the North American box turtle genera. Of the approximately 10 species and subspecies, only 6 are relatively rare, namely the 4 subspecies of the Carolina box turtle and the two subspecies of the painted box turtle.
Although they tend to live on land, box turtles often soak in pools for many hours to even a whole day, especially in the summer. Although they enjoy soaking in water, box turtles are particularly bad at swimming and will die if the water is too deep.
Various subspecies of box turtles have long been kept as pets, and they remain extremely popular to this day. In artificial breeding, environmental factors are particularly important. If raised appropriately, they will quickly lose their wariness about people and fall in love with this way of life. Whether for strangers or experienced birds, box turtles are a very suitable breeding species.
